Thank you for your interest in the Nashville Threshold Choir. Like the other Threshold Choirs, we honor the ancient tradition of singing softly at bedsides of people who are ill or dying. We are singers called to bring ease and comfort through song to those at the thresholds of life, including newborns. A dynamic group of primarily women, we are committed to serving each other and our community through the amazing vehicle of “kindness made audible” that is Threshold Choir singing. We bring gentle songs and sincere kindness to soothe clients, their families, and their caregivers.
Key to our growth as singers are regular rehearsals, where we build our knowledge of the repertoire, share our reflections, and get to know each other better. We work on the art of lullaby voice and blending, and we discuss working sensitively with clients and families at these often moving moments. At each rehearsal, we allow members to experience being sung to by the others. It is a safe and comfortable setting, where we ourselves can experience what it is like to be nurtured.
We invite those who feel drawn to this work (and can carry a tune) to join the choir. A trained voice is not required. For more information, contact us by email or call (615) 420-7404.
